Are you my Mommy?

It seems so surreal. I went in to get induced Monday, December 10, 2007. Ten hours later, little baby boy, James Robert West, arrived in my arms. One of the happiest days of my life. Of course Daddy cried and Mommy did too.
Despite being anti-epidural, I decided to get one after 7 hours. It wasn't so much the contractions that were bad, it was the aching back and pain in my hips. But let me tell you, life changed after the epidural. I was one happy camper! Around 7 pm the nurse started asking me if I was feeling any pressure from the contractions and said that I would need to let her know once I did. It all went by really fast after that. Before I knew it, I was pushing (before they called the Doctor in - Mike was really nervous b/c he thought I would shoot him right out on the floor). But once the Doctor arrived it was very quick. I think I pushed about 10 times total and little James was out. The umbilical cord was wrapped around his neck so there was some urgency to deliver as soon as possible. But other than that, it was an uncomplicated delivery.
Mike was curious during the whole process. He was inquisitive and interactive and stayed by my side the entire time. I'm so lucky to have such a wonderful husband :D
I'm still in shock. I can't believe that we made such a perfect little human being. Baby James is truly a blessing!

I'm glad things went well and you were comfortable. We're so happy for your family and your newest addition! It's such a spiritual experience to have a baby.(for me it was) I know my testimony was strengthened because of it. It's all so grand isn't it. Can you believe you're a mother now! It's very surreal the first time.
