So today is 9/11. It's a VERY memorable day for Michael. He came home on his mission today, 7 years ago. I had to rub it in this morning that he's really old now. Anyway, he was flying back to the US from Chile. For some reason he ended up in Texas - whether his flight was grounded or re-directed I can't remember. But he wasn't able to get back to California for like a week. He had no money, no one to call, no where to stay in Texas. Some way, some how, someone from the church was able to find him and keep him up. And this is where the texas long horns came from. Well, that's another story for another day. There are just some things I refused to accept from his mom. Sorry Carol, but I think your just stuck with those things until you die. Michael didn't call his parents for like a day or two after he arrived in Texas. Can you imagine? If he were my son, I'd kill him! His mom was all out of sorts because she had no idea where he was, if he had flown into NY or what.
Back to my inital thought for this post. Yesterday I paid off two credit cards. I'm so proud of myself!!! It feels so good to not be a slave to habits. Thanks everyone for all the tips and encouragement and support. It's not always easy to change habits, especially bad spending habits! But it can be done! I feel so good about it and now I know it I can do it! I'm that much more motivated to keep it up! You all had so many good tips. I seriously could not have done it without you. Quit going to Target helped a lot as well!

Wow, I can't believe it's been 7 years already! It seems like it was just a few years ago!
wow, 2 whole credit cards? Count me impressed!
Now here's a test,
You can celebrate this great feat by either:
A) Spurging on yourself big time - "You deserve it!"
B) Having a free ladies night out tonight where the activity centers around something frugal and useful, like say Making Whole Wheat Bread.
Yeah, no splurging here. Except for those Lucky jeans. But with the coupon and with a visa gift card my dad gave me for my birthday I think I'll be able to pay maybe $50 out of pocket. Pretty sweet, I think. But I'm taking James out to Babies R Us to see what kind of walkers they have. He's totally ready for one.
That is awesome. I need to solicite some of that great advice. It seems like everytime I'm ready to make a big payment something else comes up. But you have renewed my hope.
WAY TO GO!!!
That's fantastic that you rid yourself of two credit cards! What a relief! We never had a walker for Ben...he probably would have liked it, but I'm SO cheap. Good for you for wanted to spend it on your kid.
this is going to be the most random comment, but I just wanted to say HI! I stumbled in to your blog from Kiri's. Your baby boy is adorable!
I'm so proud to be an AMERICAN!! thanks for the reminder

I can't believe Mike was stranded for a week after 9/11 - and that he didn't call his parents right away - they didn't know where he was? Were they waiting for him at the airport or what?
...I almost bought a walker for Taya, but didn't - but I was looking into it on Craigslist - there are lots for sale all the time and for much cheaper than the stores! .. A little rub down and some sanitizing spray and there you go!
Crazy how time flys! I would have killed him too! Hey add us when you get a chance!
