I hear it a lot from my old friends back at APS - Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station. I can't tell you how many times they have reorganized departments out there. It's only been 3 years since I left. Almost strange to think I've been with SRP now for longer than I was with my first job out of college. Ah! I
loved my job. It was very technical, high stress, long commute hours, and thrilling, and exhausting all at the same time.
So "reorg, reorg"... I've been hearing it chirp in my brain. I was at Costco when I got to thinking, "Man, I wish I could find some food storage things for my canned food." Lo & behold, what did I find? This system by Shelf Reliance! Costco never dissapoints!

Ok, Ok. You've seen the hokey commercials. The ones with the BIG 54 ounce cans on an ENORMOUS rack. C'mon, right? I would laugh everytime I'd see it. How... MORMON. But this little guy is soooooo practical for me. So I just had to try it (shamefully hiding it in the cart - trying to make James sit on it so people wouldn't point and sneer
"mormon" under their brea

Unfortunately it was a lot more work than I could even imagine. Taking all this food out of one shelf and trying to organize and group all the half hazardly stocked items into some sort of scheme.

I mean, just look at all this crap. A hodge podge of this, a little bit of that. My problem is that I just love to cook. I have a bizzillion spices, liquids (vinegar, oils, etc), and specialty items. I also love to bake. Baking is like right up there with running for me. I can't imagine anything better than baking in a quiet, clean house, apron on, spatula in hand, licking something delicous from the kitchen aid. YUM. But alas, I had to engineer a new structure!

And so after many hours, like six, I ended up with this. The rotating can contraption is so amazing! I now know what I have used up in my food storage & things to make note of to buy on sale (like black olives, canned chicken, tomato paste, etc) to stock up it's own little cubby.

My
only, only wish is that I had a bigger pantry. Forget using the garage, I can not bring myself to store food items in there knowing it gets up to 130degF. Yuck! I do not want my food to prematurely go bad. . . speaking of. . . I threw out a lot of food that expired. So it was kind of nice to start afresh.
Now if only I had a label maker....
