Isn't this picture histerical? Well he was actually really happy to be outside even tho it was freezing! We didn't bring the jogging stroller, only the regular stroller so I was pretty determined to make it work anyway. As we started jogging up this massive hill, I realized how rickety the stroller seemed compared to my BOB at home. But I figured, I had seen a friend of mine jog with a normal stroller and she made it work just fine. So all fears aside, we went full speed ahead, up the hill. Just shy of the summit, there was construction and the sidewalk was closed so we hopped off onto the street.
I thought, "Man, these California streets are terrible!" There really wasn't a place to get off the sidewalk or get on, pot holes everywhere, no bike lane. Not good. And all this seemed to make our stroller even more rickety. But I had confidence. This was no cheapy stroller. After all, it was a Britax. So if it were anything like their car seats, it could go through rain, snow, gravel, pot holes.... it could probably go to the moon and back.
After we went around construction I figured we could just hop back onto the sidewalk, so I pushed down on the handle bars to lift up the front wheels and ......
BAM!
That's when I crashed into the sidewalk. The blanket went flying, along with the snacks and James' sippy cup he was holding. It was literally like running into a wall. I broke the wheels clean off. Snapped off both front wheels. Just like that. I tumbled over the stroller and the car seat crashed sideways onto the road. I was able to gain my balance and not fall flat on my butt and grab the carseat at the same time. Luckily it was still locked into the stroller base otherwise it might have tipped upside-down. A car drove by, people were watching. I was so embarrassed. Stupid lady, that's what she gets for trying to jog with the wrong stroller. I know that's what they were thinking.
We jogged around the dog park, and after being afraid that my handle bars would be the next to go, we headed back to the house. How embarrasing, now I'd have to jog back through the construction zone where all those guys were. Hopefully they won't notice that I'm missing my front wheels.

Here it is, on jacks.
Now we deliberating on a) how to get the car seat home and b) if we need to buy another stroller (not necessarily the same one).
Oh yeah, and I want to say that Britax strollers are NOT built like their car seats.

We're headed to California tonight! I'm glad I read this; now I'll check the weather.
And sorry about your stroller. But thanks for affording us the laugh!
I'm glad you and James were okay. That sounds like a scary experience. When I would jog with Henry in our regular stroller, I would prop it back on the back two wheels, otherwise it was a bumpy ride. We like our jogger much better now.
