Coupon Stupid

I hate clipping coupons. I hate looking for sales to use my coupons. I hate the thought of coupon sense. I hate running around to different grocery stores. I like my safeway and it's comfortable. I know where everything is. I know whats a good deal and whats not.
So I'm on the brink of giving up. Is it really worth the hassle? Convice please. Convince me.

On another note... I was puking my guts out last night. I tried keeping it down. I HATE throwing up. I hate the way that it gets all over your clothes. I hate that you puke over the toilet - which is never clean - and seeing the nasty dirtiness make you puke even more. I hate the way it makes your throat feel. I hate the way that you can still smell it. I hate the way it makes your teeth feel like it's being eaten away by acid.

I am so sick. My insides hurt. My gag reflexes are way too sensitive today... thinking of drinking water makes me gag. Needless to say I'm at home.

Michael wants me to take a pregnancy test, but it's too early. If this is how it's gonna be, we are off to a rough start.

you wuss. kidding.

as for the coupons. I don't think you're in a position where you have to worry about scrimping and pinching every possible penny so don't do it. Embrace your Safeway and don't feel guilty that you could've saved X% if only you'd used coupons. Don't make your life filled with misery and dread doing some activity you hate even if other women enjoy it.

Plus you'll gain favor in the cashiers eyes. Most hate couponers.

Plus you're contributing more-so to the downtrodden economy, think of it that way.

See now you're a hero for not using coupons.

Never been a fan of coupons either [I've always thought them a hassle and waste of time and that you don't really save very much money], but Sara's coupon deals all over her blog definitely made me reconsider. From what I've learned about the coupon sense stuff they're mostly manufacturer's coupons you collect and you just use them at the store when your stuff goes on sale to get really good deals. It all sounds like a good idea, but... I'm kinda lazy and cutting out little squares of paper doesn't seem all that exciting to me.

I like what Jana had to say about it all though. :)

Cashiers DO hate couponers - except pregnant ones. So, maybe you'll reconsider if you find out that you are, in fact, off to a "rough start."

I didn't start couponing until August and I'm now taking a break until the baby is at least a month or two old. I wouldn't have considered doing it while I was working and even when I stopped working, it took me two and a half months to even have the desire.

I'm sorry you're feeling so sick Bianca - I hope it wasn't yesterday's food.

If you don't want to do full on coupons, still shopping at Fry's or Walmart saves money over Safeway - I prefered Safeway at first too b/c that was all we had growing up, it is the most expensive store though, (but it does have a nice atmosphere!) If you start shopping at Fry's, or 1 particular store, you'll soon get to know it like you currently know Safeway. You can always pricematch to the weekly adds at Walmart, which I think is a little less work than couponing (which I haven't started yet - I think I'm about to). I have felt better switching from Safeway to Fry's/Walmart b/c it's just nice to see a smaller dollar amount spent on food each month, whether it mattered financially a lot or not. Especially when in a lot of cases, the items you are getting at either store are exactly the same (you know, as opposed to Gap quality vs. lower quality, etc.)

But that's my two sense, probably more than you wanted.

And then there is Trader Joe's - which has good prices on certain items - and is always worth the extra trip when I have the time!

Haven't done a 2nd comment in a while. Here goes the 2nd thought!: Something else I've been trying to do better at in order to buy less food and spend less money - is just to be more aware of all of the food we have and eat past bought food items before newly bought food items and to analyze ingredients in the fridge and figure out what dinner I can make that will use more of them; we've wasted way too much money on food in the past throwing out food or ingredients we didn't finish b/c I never put enough thought into it! But I am still wanting to get better at actually planning my meals by week so that my shopping lists can be absolutely efficient - but we'll get to that when we get to that :)

Hope you feel better tomorrow.

After spending money to save money this week, I've decided to axe the coupons thing, kind of. I think I'll do a refined version of it. I think I spent $50 on stuff I normally wouldn't buy, some of it good and most of it bad.
Good luck you coupon goers. I was inspired for a few weeks. Coupon your heart out for me :P

I am definetly anti-coupon sense. I tried it for a few months and I felt overwhelmed with the coupons...like I was drowinging in them. I think it took up too much time to research where the sales were going to be, and when you are shopping with little ones, it's not the most conveinent thing to do.

Oh yes, I totally agree with you on the whole throwing up thing... it stinks! Maybe you are preggo!
