Who knows how long they've been in there for; but the look is unattractive. Every time I go to get something out of the freezer one of these puppies gets my toes. So after realizing the fridge really did have bananas coming out of its ears, I decided to round them up; hoping i had enough for 4 loaves of banana bread. Guess what? I had plenty... and then some. I stopped looking for them after I counted 16 bananas and still saw more peeping out of the freezer.
And this was what I was afraid of:
Filled to the brim. I had to stop the mixer and hand whisk the remaining flour in. I need a bigger kitchen aid.But everyone got a loaf, I made 2 just plain - the way Michael likes it, one with nuts for Bj, and one with nuts and chocolate chips for me because I had heard of people putting in chocolate but I've never tried it myself, plus a plain baby loaf because I had batter left over. I have not made bread in a long long time, so I wasn't sure how full to stuff the pan. Turns out I was over cautious. I still have more batter in the fridge for two more baby loaves.
This is how they turned out:
A smooth pureed banana bread. No banana chunks (gag) and so, so soft.And this was all that was leftover from the chocolate chip loaf:
I think I ruined this loaf because for one pan I dumped a whole bag of chocolate chips in it. Way too sweet and it took away from the banana-ness.
After I pull my bread out of the oven, I put them on a rack and wrap them up in grocery bags. It seals in the moisture and pretty much melts in your mouth. I definitely like my bread w/nuts - and I liked the cold chocolate in the banana bread when I put it in the fridge. It had a hard sweet crunch that was tasty.

that's funny because I have a ton of those black bananas in my freezer too. sometimes I just have to throw them away, they pile up too quickly.
I used to make banana bread when my bros were down the street to eat it. no one really eats it except Talia and I so I never make it. just for smoothies.
Nuts only please! I can eat it all day. I do have some overripe bananas that will be going into the freezer today! :)
yummy!! I just throw them away cause I can't find a recipe I like...can you post yours?? The frezzer is a great idea never thought of that!!
I JUST put bananas in the freezer today thinking that I will make banana bread! I pretty much just like banana bread any way you slice it! (Har har har.) I'll take some anytime! Looks yummy!
That is the grossest banana pic I have ever seen!! But not a bad idea tho, I hate throwing out rotten bananas
